Town Trash

Next Public Meeting
on The Trash Crisis
Scheduled

TBA
Great Hall at Town Hall

The town manager is having discussions on the future of Stoughton's Trash.

Privatize vs Town Run

  • Town trash trucks waiting too long (2 hours) to dump trash to Rochester, MA for SEMASS

  • Town manager wants to privatize OUR residential trash to Republic Services

  • What will happen to the town owned trash trucks?

  • DPW workers have multiple roles in the town but without Stoughton providing trash services will jobs be eliminated?

  • How much is this going to cost residents to privatize trash services?

  • Will there be limitations on how much trash goes curb side?

  • Will residents need to buy new bins or use special trash bags?

  • How will this impact our town in the long run?

  • Stoughton has a rat problem and by inadequate trash service could exacerbate this infestation.

  • Republic Services wants to put a transfer station adjacent to the new South School build. Would this be part of the deal if we push out Stoughton trash and privatize our trash with Republic?

  • Please attend this meeting to find the answer to many of these questions and more.

Finance Committee

This video clip on 3/19/25 of a  finance committee meeting shows the Town Manager's outburst and scolding of committee members working to protect the tax payers against outrageous spending, taxation and a traditional lack of savings.  It is the finance committee's job to recommend and the select boards job to implement policies which build the framework for a fiscally responsible town.  It is the duty of the Town Manager to answer finance committees members questions in a public forum.  These are informational public meeting and should be treated with the dignity it deserves.

Finance Committee

During finance committee meetings representatives asked some questions regarding new growth that have been ignored or not fully answered. Members of the finance committee received a frustrated and unwarranted lecture from the town manager.  It is the finance committee's job to ask questions and receive complete comprehensive responses.
